Events:

Student Leaders in Service exposes high school seniors to leadership theories and provides opportunities to practice leadership through community service while also giving students a taste of college life.

Sample ‘Southern Days are prospective student events designed for high school seniors and their parents/guardians. Visiting students will have the opportunity to attend a BSC class.

Dinner with the President is an opportunity for admitted students and their parents to join our president, as well as other members of the BSC campus community, for dinner and dialogue. Please contact the Admission Office for registration information.

Fall Preview Day is a prospective student event designed for high school juniors and seniors and their parents/guardians. Join us this October to learn more about BSC!

Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship Day is held annually as an opportunity for admitted students to audition for scholarships in music, theatre, musical theatre, art, and dance.

Summer Preview Day is held annually for rising high school juniors and seniors and their parents/guardians. Activities include: Q&A session with current students, campus tour, special interest sessions, and lunch.

BSC student Kate LeCroy has been awarded a 2010 Preparing Leaders and Nurturing Tomorrow's Scientists (PLANTS) grant by the Botanical Society of America.

Birmingham-Southern environmental park will test sustainable landscape rating system
The Urban Environmental Park at Birmingham-Southern College was selected as one of the first landscapes to participate in a new program testing the nation's first rating system for green landscape design, construction and maintenance in The Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES).

Sklenar Center integrates study abroad for French majors
Faculty at Birmingham-Southern College, in conjunction with the Sklenar Center for International Programs, has announced the integration of a semester study abroad for all French majors beginning this fall.

Birmingham-Southern named one of the 286 "Greenest Colleges" by The Princeton Review
The New York-based education services company, in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, features the college in its new "Guide to 286 Green Colleges.

BSC student named a 2010 Truman Scholar
Birmingham-Southern College student Katherine Glenn has been named a 2010 Harry S. Truman Scholar.

BSC launches Panther Pride Marching Band
Beginning in fall 2010, Birmingham-Southern will roll out the new Panther Pride Marching Band, including scholarships to all members.

Area residents receive behavioral sciences, social sciences and economics awards from Birmingham-Southern College

Park/Lake Now Open
The gorgeous new Urban Environmental Park on campus, including a 1.5 acre lake, amphitheatre, walkways, exterior lighting, a fountain, and rain gardens for storm water management, is now open!

New Residence Halls Under Construction
Construction has begun on two new residence halls that will overlook the Urban Environmental Park and house 167 men and women in suite-style living.

College and the Economy
President David Pollick addresses this important issue, as well as the value of a BSC education.

Three New Foreign Languages Offered
Beginning this fall, BSC students are able to get a daily dose of Portuguese from Brazil, Arabic from Morocco, and Chinese from Taiwan as the college doubled its foreign language offerings.
