Not only is the creative process celebrated at Birmingham-Southern, but we help budding artists find their niche. If you are equally interested in song, stage, and dance, it’s definitely worth applying here as a musical theatre major. The Department of Theatre and Dance at BSC offers this professional interdisciplinary degree to provide you with a combination of courses in dance, music, and theatre that is intended to prepare you for a career as a performer. Musical theatre is an extension of BSC’s theatre arts program. Given its emphasis on acting, ballet, voice, piano, jazz, and music theory, the musical theatre major is more specialized than the theatre major. To officially declare a major in musical theatre, students must successfully complete a sophomore review at the end of their second year in the program. But from the very beginning, you will have the opportunity to be creatively involved with productions. Graduates of the musical theatre program at Birmingham-Southern perform locally, nationally, and internationally and are making quite an impact in music, theatre, and related fields. If you are interested in learning more about any of our majors and minors, you will find more information in the Disciplinary Majors and Minors section of the BSC Course Catalog. To explore the musical theatre major at BSC further, visit their Web site. |
