Lawyer, programmer, reporter, teacher, manager—really, you can thrive in almost any profession with the quantitative and analytical skills you’ll develop by majoring in mathematics. More than ever, employers are looking for applicants who can think on their feet, with sound problem-solving skills, the ability to synthesize information and reason logically. In addition to fields that use mathematics directly, such as operations research, teaching, software engineering, statistical consulting, and actuarial work, a degree in mathematics will give you a background for jobs in business, or admission to medical or dental school, MBA programs, law school, engineering school, and public health programs. You can also become a part of our interdisciplinary major in mathematics and computer science. Or, if you wish to follow a unique path, you can work with our faculty to combine courses in mathematics with courses in other disciplines for an individualized major. To explore the mathematics major at BSC further, visit their Web site. If you are interested in learning more about any of our majors and minors, you will find more information in the Disciplinary Majors and Minors section of the BSC Course Catalog. |
