Are you intrigued by the past and enjoy discussing politics? If so, why not try a fusion of both disciplines? In textbooks filled with biographies and dates, you’ll study local, national, and world political systems; explore the historical effects of the Civil War and other bygone battles; and get a close up view of how groups of people govern themselves. You’ll also learn about contemporary political movements and ancient history. Elements of both the social sciences and the humanities make up the interdisciplinary history-political science major. The major also emphasizes the development of analytic and writing skills needed in graduate study or success in any field, as well as independent research projects. Small class sizes allow you greater opportunities for interaction and participation with professors. There’s just no limit to what you can do with a history-political science degree. Go to law school. Go into politics. Be a teacher or a journalist. Get involved with archival work at a museum. Try your hand at real estate, banking, or sales. Work for the local, state, or federal government. You could even work in the office of one of our graduates who is in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you are interested in learning more about any of our majors and minors, you will find more information in the Disciplinary Majors and Minors section of the BSC Course Catalog. |
