English-theatre arts

… be creative and accept the consequences ...”

There has always been a strong connection between English literature and theatre. The study of dramatic literature is enriched by the study of performance, and likewise, the production of a dramatic work is enhanced by an in-depth study of the text as well as of its context in literary history. Study in the interdisciplinary English-theatre arts program at BSC explores such connections, providing you with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for the reading, writing, and production of literary works.

Coursework in the program is melded with practical experience to teach you the skills necessary for success in playwriting and performance. A research component also is incorporated into the major. But most of all, you’ll have the opportunity to interact closely with bright students and distinguished professors.

Majoring in English-theatre arts is a good choice if you wish to pursue certification in secondary education, graduate study in theatre or English, law, or other professional careers.

If you are interested in learning more about any of our majors and minors, you will find more information in the Disciplinary Majors and Minors section of the BSC Course Catalog.
